A DAY WITH DR KARL HEINZ BRISCH.
TOP INTERNATIONAL PRESENTER AND CLINICIAN ON ATTACHMENT THEORY AND PRACTICE An Introduction to two cutting-edge programmes SAFETM and BASETM
Description
This exciting, practical, professional development day will give participants insight into two innovative programmes, devised and piloted by Dr Brisch and now being further developed all over Europe. BASETM and SAFETM are both designed to dramatically increase the likelihood that parents with unresolved attachment difficulties and history of trauma will be able to provide their children with secure attachment. The BASETM programme (Baby Watching Against Aggression and Anxiety, for Sensitivity and Empathy) is a facilitated baby-mother interaction-watching programme, for pre-school and school children, proven to be highly effective in reducing the likelihood of infants and school-age children developing aggressive and fearful behaviour disorders, and in improving their sensitivity, empathy and capacity for self-reflection. The children involved in a baby-watching group are encouraged to share observations at motivational and emotional levels, and invited to empathise with the baby and her mother as they interact together. The SAFETM programme (Safe Attachment Formation for Educators) includes: parenting skills training with video-feedback, couple relationship education, adult attachment assessments, support to find one-to-one trauma counselling if required and a crisis hotline. Following this introductory day, further training is available to license professionals from relevant backgrounds to establish SAFETM and BASETM programmes in their own working environments in the UK.
