Karl Heinz Brisch, MD

Dr. von Hauner Children's Hospital of the University of Munich, Germany. Dr. Brisch, MD, was born in 1955. He specializes in child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry and psychotherapy; psychosomatic medicine and psychotherapy; neurology; and child, adolescent, adult, and group psychoanalysis.

Dr. Brisch is the head of the department of Pediatric Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy at the Dr. von Hauner Children's Hospital of the University of Munich. He is a lecturer at the medical school of the University of Munich as well as a teaching and supervising psychoanalyst at the Psychoanalytic Institute Stuttgart, Germany.

His research specialties include the areas of early childhood development and related specialties of early development of attachment processes and attachment disorders.

Dr. Brisch has published on the development of attachment in at-risk children and on clinical attachment research.  He is also author of several books about child-parent attachment and on the use of attachment theory in the psychotherapeutic treatment of attachment disorders.

Dr. Brisch is the German chairman of the Gesellschaft für Seelische Gesundheit in der Frühen Kindheit [GAIMH e. V. – German-Speaking Association for Infant Mental Health: www.gaimh.org, affiliate of the World Association for Infant Mental Health: www.waimh.org]
